JOHN RANKIN

John began his musical journey studying classical violin. At age 16, he found a nylon-string guitar in his parent's basement and taught himself to play by writing his own music. He self-describes his style as rhythmic soul, and frequently uses a looper to mix violin, guitar, beats, and vocal harmonies throughout his live shows. He has opened for John Legend, been named Best Performance of the Year by the WestCoast Songwriters NW Chapter, and played over 250 shows in the past three years.

On March 31, 2015, he released his debut album, Parts of Me, on which he performed violin, guitar, piano, ukulele, bass, and synths, all of which he recorded in his home studio.

John's first studio album, john & the motive, is now available.
